Kids Aprons

Aprons for kid are a kitchen essential if you often have the littles with you cooking or prepping food. We’ve tried a lot over the years and I’m so happy to share my favorites today. These are great toddler aprons (including ones for one-year-olds) and big kid options options—and many will last from one kid to the next!

My kids are with me a lot in the kitchen, doing toddler kitchen activities, helping me to bake kid-friendly recipes (like cookies for the holidays and everyday snacks like Graham Crackers and Cheese Crackers), and using their kids kitchen tools, so having a way to keep them a little cleaner is key for me.

(We also love using a learning tower to keep the kids safely at counter height while we cook. Or the best kids cooking sets and kids cooking tools.)

Best Tips for Choosing a Kids Apron

Here are a few tips to keep in mind when picking out an apron for your toddler or big kid. (P.S. Here are my favorite bibs.)

  • Consider the material. Make sure you know if you want or are buying wipe-clean material or something like cotton that may require more dedicated stain removal.
  • Check the size. If your kiddo is on the upper edge of a size, consider ordering up.
  • Read the reviews as they can help you know if the apron you choose will be comfy for your kiddo (though I did my best to do that for you here!)
  • Once you have an apron, wash it regularly as the longer food sits on them, the harder it can be to get it out.

TIP: You can literally just wipe the wipe-clean fabrics clean with a clean kitchen towel or sponge!

Baprons Baby

This is a fan favorite among my Instagram followers and for good reason. It has a soft-yet-waterproof fabric made from eco-friendly polyester that’s fused with a soft, yet waterproof layer. This means that the apron will stay dry and comfortable to wear.

(This is also a great bib since it covers the kids laps when they are sitting down!) It comes in two sizes—6m-3T and then preschool 3-5yrs so you can choose the one that works for your child.

Starting at just under $20, Baprons.com (Use the code YUMMYTODDLERFOOD at checkout for 10% off)

Bumkins Junior Bib/Smock

We used this smock regularly for both kitchen activities and crafting with my middle kiddo and it was awesome. The wipe-clean (and odor and stain resistant) fabric is super easy to keep clean. It also washes up really nicely in the washing machine.

This smock is lightweight and comfortable for whatever messes the kids might get into! Fits ages 1-3 years and is priced under $10.
