How to Buy Strawberries

When at the store and buying strawberries in plastic containers, look at all sides and underneath to make sure you don’t buy a package that already has mold. The container should be dry and the berries should be unbruised.

Farmer’s market strawberries are likely picked very soon before market and are very delicate. Be gentle when transporting them home so they don’t get smushed in a bag with other foods!

How to Store Strawberries

Find my full guide to storing strawberries to ensure that none get moldy or go to waste. This is a fast method to help ensure you get to enjoy all of the fruit you buy for your family.

And below you can find my top strawberry recipes so you can use them up as you like.

Best Tips for Success

  • Check containers of berries for mold at the store to ensure that you bring home the freshest options.
  • Use fresh recipes in the recipes here or frozen or freeze-dried according to the specifics listed in each recipe.
  • Sweeten recipes to taste as the flavor of berries can vary a lot.
  • Use a strawberry huller to remove the leaves from the berries with minimal wasted fruit.
